1.水俣病発生地域における差別・抑圧要因熊本・新潟の両水俣病発生地域における差別・抑圧の諸要因、換言すれば被害の社会的次元における拡大・増幅要因は、以下の4つであることが解明された。(1)A:原因企業による地域支配(政治的・経済的・社会的)=企業城下町「水俣病を騒ぐとチッソ/昭電のためにならない」(2)B:魚が売れなくなることによる生活破壊の回避(水俣病隠し)(3)C:地域社会における伝統的な差別構造の活性化「被害の発生」→「当該地域社会における伝統的な差別構造を活性化」→「水俣病の差別・偏見を一層強化」→「被害者の潜在化」(4)D:水俣病という病に対する白眼視、拒絶(結婚に影響、就職に響く)2.熊本と新潟における差別と抑圧の構図の相違点(1)熊本:水俣病発生地帯の中心部水俣には差別・抑圧要因の4つ全てが集中している。(2)新潟:差別・抑圧要因は次のように地域ごとに分離して存在しており集中している地域が存在していない。Aの作用は阿賀野川上流域、Bは下流域、Cは中流域、Dは全域*差別・抑圧要因が重層的に存在したか、分離して存在していたかの違いは、両水俣病発生地域の被害者が被った差別・抑圧による受苦の様相を大きく左右したといえるのである。
