项目摘要

本研究の目的は、科学技術によって生み出される「無知」を研究する無知学（agnotology）の観点から、西洋中近世医学史における「非自然的なもの」の衰退、すなわち古代以来医学の中心を占めていた飲食や運動、睡眠等に関する知識が、いかにして医学の中から失われていったのかを解明することである。本年度は昨年度に続き、本研究の視座である無知学の研究・紹介と西洋植物学（本草学）史の研究を継続するとともに、植物学の変遷の背後にある医学思想の研究にも着手した。無知学に関しては、日本科学史学会にてシンポジウムを開催し、科学史のみならず社会学・ジェンダー史といった領域の研究者を交えて無知学／無知研究の諸相について議論した。その成果は昨年の研究会の成果であるエッセー・レビューとともに、『科学史研究』に掲載された。また、無知学の応用編とも言えるジェンダード・イノベーションに関する講演会にてパネリストを務め、その成果を『ジェンダー研究』にて発表した。さらに、他大学での研究会やフランス語版リサーチ・ショウケースにて無知学の概要を口頭発表するなど、アウトリーチにも努めた。植物学史に関しては、昨年度の発表に基づいた論考が『生物学史研究』に掲載されるほか、日本の近代植物学（分類学）の礎を築いた植物学者・牧野富太郎の植物学（思想）について、『ユリイカ』に論考を寄稿した。これにより、後述する植物学史・医学誌の東西比較の視点を得たことは有益であった。医学思想については、ヒポクラテスやガレノスの医学論文の読解や、中世の医学教科書集「アルティケッラ」のラテン語による読解を進めた。また、「非自然的なもの」の中核をなすといってよい「飲食」について、その科学史との接点を日本科学史学会にて口頭発表したほか、採集食の倫理的含意について論じた論文の紹介を『環境倫理』に寄稿した。

The purpose of this study is to study the development of "ignorance" in science and technology, the decline of "unnatural" in western and modern medical history, and the understanding of the relationship between diet, exercise and sleep since ancient times. This year, we started our research on medical thought behind the development of botany.
