本研究は、戦前期において「内地」と呼ばれていた日本本土で発行された諸教育関係雑誌から、「外地」とされていた朝鮮半島や台湾島をはじめとする諸地域に関する論考や「授業実践」記録を選別して検討することで、日本人教師たちがどのような「外地」認識を持っていたかを分析することであった。今年度は研究機関が６カ月ということであり、研究業績には目を見張るものがなかったが、以下の２点を業績をとして挙げることができる。１点目は、課題研究と深く関係している主な史・資料や先行研究について調べ、そのリストをデータベース化したことである。具体的に言うと、本年度には国立国会図書館や筑波大学附属図書館などの施設を利用し、『大日本教育会雑誌』・『帝国教育』・『教育時論』・『歴史教育』のような戦前の教育関係雑誌について調査した。そして、それらの雑誌から朝鮮半島や台湾島に関連する様々な論考と「授業実践」記録を選別したうえ、そのリストをデータベース化した。また、課題研究に関わる先行研究についても検索し、リスト作りを行った。２点目は、データベース化したリストを基に、大まかな中身を確認して課題研究において優先的に必要だと判断される史・資料を収集すると共に、先行研究について検討したことである。つまり、課題研究の遂行のために必要な史・資料や先行研究のリストが、大体完成した段階で、国内に散在している史・資料及び先行研究の収集を実施した。同時に先行研究については、課題研究の研究意識を一層明確にしていくため、精読して整理した。以上、今年度に行った研究の意義とは、課題研究に用いる基本的な史・資料や先行研究を確保したことで、研究の基盤が構築されたことである。これによって二年間の研究基盤が整ったとみてもよく、大変重要な作業だったと評価することができる。
