For the evaluation of biomedical function of target organs, it is quite useful to integrate several information concerning the organ. Even for the measurement of morphological structure, we can derive reliable parameters by combining multi-modal observations. However, to realize this scheme, we need a practical procedure to integrate different kinds of data with appropriate precision and the procedure to present such fused spatio-temporal information in 3D mode. For the requirement of coming medical information system, it is also important to manipulate such information through the computer network.As a typical example, cardiac function is investigated by using multi-modal 3D data. Dynamic SPECT data, coronary angiogram and anatomical coronary artery (CA) model are superimposed in 3D mode. Here, ellipsoid is used as a key model to evaluate their shapes and to superpose them. Left ventricle from SPECT, CA from CA angiogram or anatomical model are fitted to this ellipsoid model respectiv … More ely in the computer. Through these ellipsoid models, supepoition is performed successfully, and the cardiac output is also estimated using this model from time varying image sequence.Usefulness of such spatio-temporal analysis is also demonstrated on remote sensing images especially for vegetation classification about our regional area.To establish this kind of technique, we need high quality images and 3D presentation technique with convenient human interface. So we also discussed them with practical targets. We have succeeded to get high quality mammogram by synchrotron radiation X-ray and to improve SR-CT images using characteristics of incident SR beam. Several practical procedures are developed to capture 3D data into the computer on the network using specific camera location and a method is explored to extract target face from the scene by using multi-modal information.From our experiments in this project, we can conclude integration of multi-modal spatio-temporal images is very useful for understanding target shape and function, and 3D manipulation of those data on the computer network is quite prospective.
