本研究は（1）従来からの自殺者のボリューム層であるにもかかわらず、相談支援に繋がりにくい働き盛り世代（30代～50代）の男性のニーズに対応した社会参加プログラムを開発すること、（2）開発した社会参加プログラムを実施し、働き盛り世代の男性が社会参加をすることによるメンタルヘルスの向上効果を明らかにすることを目的とする。初年度は、働き盛り世代を対象とした社会参加プログラムの先行研究の論文や取組事例について、医中誌Web（医学中央雑誌刊行会）および国立国会図書館オンライン（以下、NDL）を活用した文献レビューを実施した。その結果、医中誌WebおよびNDLにおいて、"社会参加"をキーワードで検索すると多数の論文がヒットするものの、そのほとんどが高齢者を対象とした内容であった。これに"働き盛り世代"や"若年層"などのキーワードを組み合わせると、抽出される先行研究の論文や取組事例は極めて少なく、ひきこもりや精神障害など何らかの障害を持っている場合を対象としたものが数件確認できたものの、本研究と重なる内容のものはほとんどなかった。今後、海外論文について検索を実施する予定である。次に、具体的なプログラムについて、Google検索エンジンによって探索を行った結果、25事例を抽出し、プログラムの内容について検討を行った。また、次年度、都市部の30歳～59歳男性を対象にしたインターネットによるニーズ調査を実施するにあたり、調査項目の検討を行った。
