Post-Pandemic Rural Revitalization: Culture and Tourism for Recovery, Resilience and Regeneration

Research of achievements have been very limited during 2022-2023 because of the movement of the main researcher Dr. Cheer, and the lingering effects of COVID constraints. In 2023 Fiscal Year we expect to be making up for the lost time during 2022 Fiscal Year.We did however hold one symposium at Wakayama University in 2022 Fiscal Year on 15 November - this was to set the research direction for the wider project. We have also launched a journal special issue in the journal Rural Society that addresses many of the key issues in this project. This special issue will form an important outcome from this project.The project also led to the publication of two issues of The Wakayama Tourism Review - the in-house tourism research journal. Additionally, we hosted leading scholars from Hokkaido University and Hiroshima University to talk about collaborations related to the project.
