本研究の目的は、女子教育の名のもとに自ら積極的な使徒的活動に身を投じた女性たちの活動に焦点を当て、女性の地位が低下したといわれる近世における女性の宗教運動の可能性と限界を明らかにすることである。対抗改革期に設立された教育女子修道会が運動の主体であった。その中で英国女子修道会を中心としたイエズス会女団体を研究対象に据えた。英国女子修道会を筆頭とするイエズス会女団体を能動的かつ宗教的情熱を持った女性運動として捉えることを研究の主眼に置く。まずは、教皇庁の宣教省によるイエズス会女団体への弾圧と、反対に英国女子修道会を支援し、教皇庁から会の廃止命令が出た後も自領での存続を模索し実現させたバイエルン公・マクシミリアン1世の姿勢を軸に、宣教省側の史料とメアリーとマクシミリアンの書簡を手掛かりとして考察を行った。メアリーが残した聖俗両方の支持者たちとの数多くの書簡や、イエズス会女に関する教皇庁や各地のイエズス会についての史料はDirmeierが網羅的に編纂したものが刊行されているので、これをおもに使用し、バイエルン側の補助文献も使用した。当時バイエルンにおいてカトリック教育の危機が進行していたこと、とくに女子教育については担い手が絶対的に不足しており、英国女子修道会学校の成功を聞いていたマクシミリアンにとって、英国女子修道会は必要な団体であったことを明らかにした。教皇庁への配慮もあって、女子教育を行う世俗団体として英国女子修道会学校を存続させたが、他地域で弾圧を受けた中で、この措置は団体の存続、そして後の時代の宗教団体としての認可に繋がっていく。この成果は、『人文社会科学論集』32号において「バイエルンにおける英国女子修道会の存続　マクシミリアン1世とメアリー＝ウォードの関係を中心に」として発表した。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the possibility of women's religious movement in the modern world. The main body of the movement was established during the reform period. The British Women's Order is a research center. The British Women's Order has a strong interest in women's sports. The Pope's orders to support and stop the British women's order were issued after the establishment of the British Women's Order, and the Pope's orders to stop the British Women's Order were issued after the establishment of the British Women's Order. The number of books and documents published by the Holy See and the Holy See are related to the Pope's work and the history of the Holy See. At that time, the crisis in education was unfolding, women's education was struggling to cope with its shortcomings, the success of the British Women's Convent School was heard, and the British Women's Convent was necessary. The Pope's concern for women's education is the existence of secular institutions, religious institutions in other regions, and religious institutions in the future. The results of this research are published in No. 32 of the Collection of Humanities and Social Sciences,"The Survival of the British Women's Order".
