初年度は研究計画の再確認を行い、調査対象を建築と庭園のかかわりを明らかにするために日本庭園研究・実測を行った建築家 西澤文隆が発表した論考のうち、検索および入手可能な全論考に絞り込んで、主に文献調査を進めた。本研究では、これらの論考を分析することにより、建築と庭園のかかわりを追求した西澤の建築思想の全体像について総体的かつ相対的に、その特質を明らかにし、それを戦後日本の建築思潮の流れの中に位置付けた上で、その変遷を明らかにすることを企図し、さらに西澤の求める「Ordinary（普通）」な建築の本質や特性を明らかにし、これからの建築にとっての現代的意義を解明することにより、建築・庭園・工芸の連携の一端を明らかにすることを目的としている。文献調査として、まず国立国会図書館本館及び関西館、神戸市立中央図書館、神戸大学建築系教室図書室において資料収集を行い、さらに図書館での収集が困難な資料、研究上重要と考えられる資料については古書店において購入し、あるいは出版元より取り寄せた。本年度は、西澤文隆の論考について392編を収集し、それらの論考から西澤の建築思想の主題となる3,021の言説を析出し、構造化を行い、鍵語の抽出を行った。抽出された鍵語は意味のまとまりに応じて整理を行い、意味の階層性の視点から検討し、まず第１水準として「建築」「庭園」「建築と庭園のかかわり」の３項目を導き出した。その後、第１水準のそれぞれの項目ごとに第２水準から第４水準の鍵語の整理を行っている。
