「後期高齢者が独居で暮らし続ける住民同士のケアリング」を明らかにするため、研究目標1：独居の後期高齢者と住民同士とのケアリングの内容を明らかにする、研究目標2：独居の後期高齢者と住民同士とのケアリングによってもたらされる変化を明らかにすることの、目標達成に向け、計画を進めている。住民にみられる互助や共助と言われる住民同士のかかわりあいについて、ケアリングから迫ることで、一時的な関係でなく比較的長い経過を経て発展していくものとして、本人の可能性拡張にまで焦点を当てた探求となるよう理論基盤を敷き、研究枠組みの洗練化を行った。その後、住民同士の行為として、特に支援的行為がなされているか、その意図や目的を含めて表現していただけるように、どのように変化（何を獲得し、どのような肯定的変化）したのか浮かび上がるように工夫しインタビューガイド等を作成した。倫理審査委員会の承認を受け（看研倫22-64）、研究協力に関する説明を施設に向け実施したい意向を市町村の統括保健師に伝え、研究協力に関する施設向けの説明会を複数の町村保健師に対し実施。選定していただいた地域で「独居の後期高齢者と住民同士で、互いに対象に対する行為を通し、行為した本人が自己実現に向かい、相互に質的な肯定的変化がある方」という条件を提示し、町村保健師と対象者の選定を行い、調査方法等の打ち合わせを入念に行い、独居の後期高齢者と住民を紹介していただくように依頼した。５月中旬から６月上旬にかけて研究対象者へアクセスし、研究協力依頼を行う予定である。
