项目摘要

本研究の目的は、日本古代、中世の「家」の形成過程及びその構造、特徴を解明することにある。今年度は、院政期の公卿日記『中右記』、『殿暦』、『台記』、『玉葉』を中心に調査を行った。①父系継承の「家」と官位官職、②継承者としての嫡子、諸子、③父系親による「一家」の連帯意識の三つに分けて、資料収集、整理、検討を行った。まず、律令官人にとって父祖の官職を継承することは即ち「家」を継承することである。調査を通じて、このような官職官位を媒介とした「家」の継承観念は深く浸透していたことを確認できた。当時の「家を継ぐ」意識を調べると、官職官位の昇進や父祖の日記の相伝に関することが主であったことが分かる。当時作成された諸家の日記は、官人として持つべき知識―朝廷の儀式、政務に関する知識の記録で、律令官僚制と密接不可分な関係にあると考えられる。また、この時期の記録に、「家嫡」「嫡子」「嫡男」「嫡童」に関する記述が多く見られ、「家」の継承における嫡子の優位が顕著になってきたことが分かる。ただ嫡子認定については不明な点が多く、嫡子以外の諸子にも父祖と同じ地位に到達する可能性があるため、嫡子の一子継承には至っていないと考えられる。同じことは家の日記の伝承についてもいえる。代々集積された家の日記が嫡子に譲られても、諸子は利用できるように配慮されているのである。当時の史料にみえる「一家」という語の指す範囲は一様ではなく、父系の近親と母系の近親の両方に用いられる。しかし、律令官人として活動する公的な場面に用いられた「一家」は、ほとんど父子兄弟及びその息子たちを指していることが調査で分かった。「一家公卿」「一家之卿相」「一家の上達部」などの表現から官僚の世界における父系親の「一家」の連帯意識が顕著にみられる。
