项目摘要

「書物の民」という表現に注目し、書物の使用をめぐる人類学的理論の発展を目指した。Moshe Halbertal (2001) People of the Bookは、ユダヤ教の重要な伝統である「テクストの継承」について、聖書（ユダヤ教「モーセ五書」）およびタルムード（聖書の解釈書）が、時代に即した絶えざる解釈につねに開かれていることを指摘している。「書物の民」としての共同体は、（ヨーロッパ）ユダヤ史の決定的な転換点である同化・解放を経て解体されたが、つねに刷新される儀礼や、テクスト解釈の伝統は現代的な形をとって残っている。2013年までの二年間に行ったアルゼンチン・ブエノスアイレスでの現地調査に基づき、「探求」（特に精神的な探求）と「解釈」を主要な概念として用いながら以下のデータを扱う。①　ラビ（ユダヤ教指導者）が率いる小規模宗教グループ　 OM（仮名）②　トーラー（モーセ五書）クラスにおける調査　③　ユダヤ暦と自己アイデンティティ・家族史との関わりとりわけ、テクストを用いた学習について着目することで、ユダヤ教の伝統的な表現方法である書物を用いた学習が現代アルゼンチンでどのように行われているのか、その変化と継承について論じた。　この研究はまた、「グローバルなもの」「アルゼンチン的なもの」「アルゼンチン・ユダヤ的なもの」の関係についても目配りをし、アルゼンチンのエスニシティ・移民研究をも参照することにより、ユダヤコミュニティについての内在的な理解だけでなく他者による規定による自己アイデンティティの形成という側面について論じることができた。この成果は、論文・学会発表のみならず、2015年中に出版予定の一般向けブックレットの執筆にも生かされている。
