過去２年間の研究を通じて、クメール煉瓦造遺構を対象として総合的な修復技術研究をまとめることができた。特にサンボー・プレイ・クック遺跡のN1塔の東正面を対象とした部分解体再構築による修復事業は無事に完了し、現在は南面の修復段階に入っている。本研究では修復方針的な成果と修復技術的成果が認められる。修復史研究を通じて修復方針の変化を調べ、既存の問題点を確認し、かつ、クメール煉瓦造遺構の修復方向に新たな提案ができた。既存のクメール煉瓦造遺構の修復にはアンコール・ワットを中心とした砂岩造遺構の修復の影響が大きく、その影響により煉瓦造遺構の修復に悪影響を与えたことが指摘できた。クメール煉瓦造遺構に使用された煉瓦の場合、解体を伴う修復ではオリジナルの材料を再利用することが容易でないため、材料的真正性保存が難しい。ここに、伝統技術を応用した修復方法を通じて技術的真正性保存の方針を新たに提示した。もう一つは、サンボー・プレイ・クック遺跡群のN1寺院を対象とした修復技術研究である。２０１２年に始まったN1寺院の東面の部分解体再構築は２０１４年５月に完了した。開口部を中心とした崩壊と増築箇所にて発生した歪みがもっとも危険な箇所として指摘され、これを解決するために、部分解体、補強、再構築に至る修復が行われた。この過程にて効率性および技術を確立するための研究が並行された。この修復に伴われた研究に基づき、クメール煉瓦造遺構を対象とした解体を伴う修復に対した考察もできた。考察は解体を行う前から完成に至る各過程に対する具体的な方法およびアドバイスをする。今後、サンボー・プレイ・クック遺跡群のN1塔以外の類似なクメール煉瓦造遺構の修復にも効果的に適用されると期待できる。
