2021年度は、主に『京都音楽史』（吉田恒三編・1942年）に掲載された京都音楽会の活動について、その出典を明らかにし、演奏会の詳細を解明するための史料調査および収集に取り組んだ。『京都日出新聞』の悉皆調査は、立命館大学の図書館で実施し、その他、明治期の音楽雑誌等の記事収集にあたっては、東京（国立国会図書館・東京藝術大学附属図書館等）へ史料調査に赴いた。調査に際しては、該当する演奏会の情報を収集するのみならず、先行研究や関連文献の調査など、研究を進めるにあたって必要な知識の収集にも同時並行で取り組んだ。また、京都音楽会の活動以外にも、京都を中心に京阪神地域の音楽活動の様子がわかる史料を収集することができた。明治期の京都における音楽活動を解明するために、同時期の他地域における音楽活動を把握し、比較することが必要だと考えている。そのため、現在「音楽の都」を標榜し、音楽教育に関して貴重な史料が発見された浜松を研究対象地域として設定し、現地に残された史料の調査に取り組んだ。その成果は、2021年10月にオンラインで開催された、日本音楽教育学会第52回大会において研究発表を行った（「大正期の浜松における音楽教育ー音楽雑誌『リズム』に着目してー」）。京都音楽会の関係者の多くは京都の師範学校および高等女学校の教員であることから、京都府高等女学校の同窓会雑誌である『鴨沂会雑誌』を調査し、音楽活動の記事を収集した。その際に、鴨沂会の総会においても、音楽が演奏されていたことが明らかとなり、今後の京都音楽会とともに、研究対象として妥当であると判断をした。
