Our project Connecting our Communities, Sharing our Memories, brings people together around common interests, connections and activities, using storytelling approaches to reduce social isolation through making friendships around common interests and background.It will help participants to express their interests and passions in their own way, and prompt connections and matches, supporting people to connect through the platform as well as at real world events and activities as well. It will provide a simple and safe place for people to build existing and new relationships and connections around common interests linked by a 'storytelling' theme.It will be a safe place for people to express themselves and extend their friendship and acquaintanceship circles using a simple, private app-based environment accessible to all and self-sustaining/ scalable. It will be designed to be self-directing and simple to use, with storytelling at its heart.The project will build on an existing successful social enterprise model and develop a simple and easily scalable commercial model based on partnership with, for example, social landlords. It builds on Book of You CIC's existing strengths and experience, and is based on a human-centred design project to research and prototype a platform, build a commericial model, and understand the benefits in the context of Healthy Ageing and improving social connections for older people.
