The project will move licensing processes for Local Authority (LA) managed street-markets to a digital, streamlined, collaborative and secure Self-Sovereign-Identity (SSI) based licensing framework. Unleashing the entrepreneurialism of new and existing street market traders as the UK emerges from Covid-19\.Tabled Ltd manages an innovative government market licensing application platform and campaign entitled OpenMarkets, working with an initial consortium of licensing teams from 6 London LAs. LAs currently have siloed, often paper-based, licensing processes for street market trading, meaning licence processing takes up to 3-months and there is no movement of traders between LAs. This impacts traders' income and the occupancy of markets, reducing the availability of affordable produce, and high street retail prosperity due to reduced footfall. OpenMarkets streamlines these separate licensing processes into a single portal making it easier for traders to apply, and improving the efficiency of licence issuance.This project will build upon the foundation of the OpenMarkets technology stack, incorporating Hyperledger Aries SSI based licence issuance within the Tabled case management system used by LA licensing teams, and an SSI licence wallet into the trader licence mobile application. The project is innovative, contributing to SSI open-source-protocols and open-source-frameworks, in the domain of distributed Trust Registries and beta testing of the UK's new Digital ID Trust Framework.Tabled's Trader Self-Sovereign Identity Licensing Framework, embedded within OpenMarkets, is the first time that a UK local-government managed, regulated licensing process will be carried out using blockchain based SSI. SSI and blockchain technologies offer an opportunity to improve the efficiency of local government licensing processes. Street market licensing is an ideal initial use case for SSI technologies in regulated licensing.Tabled (Openmarkets) will make SSI-licence-issuance, holding and verification user-friendly, with SSI licences embedded within existing NodeJS and React Native applications in a way that is completely intuitive to users.
