We are testing the feasibility and effectiveness of a new, AI-based digital systems running on mobile phones to support monitoring of patients diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.The delivery model assessed by our project is completely novel and complements existing clinical approaches by enabling patients to regularly self-test using a low-cost digital stethoscope, with wireless connection to the patient's own mobile phone. AI modules embedded in an app analyse the patients' respiratory sounds and make an assessment of severity in function of various auditory features of the recording. Analysis results and base data are uploaded to a secure cloud database which is used to feed dashboard views for monitoring physicians - allowing observation of possible deteriorations, effectiveness of new treatment plans and contact management with the patient to discuss treatment options and additional investigations.Our commercial model is delivery of a subscription-based SAAS to large healthcare providers responsible for management and follow up of patients suffering from this condition.
