DELIVER: Decarbonising Emissions from Livestock: Innovative Valorisation of waste for Energy Resilience

Livestock production is currently a major contributor to carbon emissions, however consumption of animal products will continue to be a major source of sustenance for many economies around the world. Innovative, effective, circular livestock waste management systems play a key role in helping the agricultural sector reach its net zero target, whilst providing commercially viable diversification opportunities for livestock farmers that will substantially?improve?their productivity, sustainability and resilience.The **DELIVER** project will investigate the techno-economic feasibility and policy landscape of integrating on-farm renewable energy and modular waste management technologies into a novel, circular SMART system that maximises the valorisation of livestock waste and reduces the carbon footprint of production. Uniquely, the project will focus on integrating insect farming with pig and poultry production. **DELIVER** therefore catalyses a paradigm shift in British Farming technology and farm business models, whilst providing a robust, futureproof solution for net zero agriculture.By optimising livestock husbandry, waste management and energy generation, these systems can integrate into new areas of the economy, generating clean exportable energy, low carbon gas products, and sustainable revenue for the agricultural sector. This study will identify the most viable commercial solutions and develop a design toolkit to optimise existing livestock farms and farms of the future.
