Manned aviation is developing rapidly to provide mobility as a service, for small numbers of passengers on local and sub-regional journeys, using high efficiency electrically powered aircraft with vertical take-off and landing capability (eVTOL). These craft are clean, low noise, and targeted to be affordable with a typical journey from an airport to an urban centre costing no more for the passenger than a premium taxi ride, without suffering congestion.Typical eVTOLs carry 4 passengers and a single pilot. Enhanced avionics systems to support safety and reduce pilot burden are vital. Project **oDART** will deliver an ultra-lightweight onboard radar avionics system that supports navigation, collision avoidance, and airspace deconfliction, during the critical take-off and landing phases of flight.
