The UK Government is committed to achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050 and energy-efficiency improvements to homes have a significant part to play in achieving this goal. Current rates of retrofit to properties are inadequate and must accelerate significantly to meet these targets.Accelerating works could lead to shortcuts being taken, less experienced or able contractors being used and risks of failures increased. There are numerous examples of retrofit installations not achieving their expected outcomes, failing prematurely and in some extreme cases undermining the integrity of the structure itself. Frameworks such as PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 are designed to remove these issues through control of processes, however, their use is not widespread and there is no effective means of ensuring adherence to the standards. This project will deliver an innovative new end-to-end tool that will help social housing providers, and their agents, to identify and sequence energy efficiency improvement work effectively. The proposed system will allow an agile and iterative approach for authorities that still provides effective oversight that would otherwise have to be provided by having suitably qualified staff or contractors involved throughout. This is seen as impractical for many schemes and, when it is necessary to substantially ramp up activity in the sector, it is a need that cannot be met with available resources. This product will initially be developed, tested and deployed for use by local authorities and their contractors.
