First Hand is a response to the changing market conditions which have made Manufacturing one of the most challenging business environments in the UK. Between supply chain issues, skills gaps and recruitment shortfalls most manufacturers are accepting that there's no going back. Add to this the legal - and moral - imperative to reimagine manufacturing and consumption to reach Net Zero, and its clear that rapid, transformative change is inevitable.Sector experts are clear that this change is not only technical and digital; its systemic and cultural. Generic green skills - collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking - are vital at all levels of business to be resilient and innovative in the face of an uncertain future.Our proposal: First Hand, is an innovative, generic green skills learning programme embedded in factories and workshops and leveraging them to bring teams together, motivate learning and showcase existing creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness. Drawing on the strengths of the Creative Industries, we're targeting 'design adjacent' manufacturing businesses and unlocking individual, team and business collaboration capabilities.
