项目摘要
The Developmental Core: The goals of the Developmental Core are the same as the overall Tri-Institutional
TB Research Advancement Center (Tri-I TRAC): 1) To increase the number of NIH funded investigators
conducting basic, clinical and translational research in TB and 2) To foster multidisciplinary TB research with
a focus on NIAID’s five priorities for TB science. To do so, the Developmental Core will solicit, review and fund
one year Developmental Project Awards of $50,000 that will help NIs and N2TB investigators generate
preliminary data for future R01s or other grant applications by coordinating access to the Basic Science and
Clinical Cores, along with structured mentorship and professional networking. Together, these activities will
create a Training to Independence Pathway for NIs. It will provide 6 awards per year, two of which will be
supported annually by Weill Cornell institutional funds to promote diversity. In addition to this primary role, the
Developmental Science Core will also bolster the pipeline of NIs in TB research by: introducing
undergraduates and graduate students to the field; helping to increase the competitive standing of graduate
students for postdoctoral fellowships in the field; and encouraging physician post-doctoral fellows to enter TB
research. The Developmental Science Core will thus enable a sustainable pipeline of new investigators and
collaborative translational research focused on the five NIAID priorities in TB science and ultimate goal of
ending morbidity and mortality from TB worldwide.
