AI has the potential to transform our understanding of the world and help resolve many persistent human and environmental concerns. This transformative potential has stimulated the creation of a plethora of guidelines, draft regulations and laws of yet to be established effectiveness and impact. Draft legislations threaten significant financial penalties for organisations seen to be misclassifying or misusing AI. Compliance and assurance concerns appears to be delaying the adoption of AI, and thus delaying the potential benefits.GRAIL (Guide to Regulation & AI Laws) involves the development of a natural language processing system that aims to assist users in determining which artificial intelligence (AI) laws apply to their proposed project. The system is designed to be user-friendly, accurate, and accessible to people with different levels of technical expertise.ORBIT RRI works with ML/AI developers and participates in the UK and EU processes on AI law and regulation.As a company committed to responsible research and innovation, we are excited to be leading this project and look forward to contributing to the development of a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
