SIMon (Satellite based Infrastructure Monitoring) consists of low-cost internet of things (IoT) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) devices connected via satellite and 5G. The devices are targeted towards companies operating infrastructure such as bridges, dams, buildings, and oil rigs, providing real-time structural data to help prevent failures and increase safety. SIMon is transformational in its development of low cost "always connected" devices based on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components that form part of a scalable solution connected to both existing and future communication networks as well as a proposed CubeSat constellation providing IoT connectivity and remote-sensing.
