Beakbook builds artificial intelligence tools to facilitate farm management, and is a spin-out from Imperial College, London. They are developing an innovative way to predict animal welfare that would be integrated into the poultry farm supply chain. The algorithm is intelligent enough to automatically predict the "crowdedness" of the chickens and provide farmers with the crucial ability to identify health/welfare issues prior to the animals suffering any ill health. This project will enable a new understanding of flock productivity and welfare compliance with Red Tractor standards.The founders have spent +2 years building and selling AI systems for the poultry sector, during which they conducted initial research into a proof of concept AI system that predicts the crowdedness of poultry. This project will enable Beakbook develop a more robust software algorithm and platform and to execute an in-flock trial at a sufficient scale to generate the body of data to commercially launch Beakbook's welfare prediction tool.
