英文摘要
In this project Remade Group are focusing on further developing our remanufactured product e-marketplace Remade Market by developing a smart grading tool to enhance and streamline the recovery of end-of-life materials for the remanufacturing industry.Returning end-of-life (EOL) products to the supply chain for remanufacturing into a like-new functional state, means that product service life can be extended (200% to 300%), capturing residual value from EOL components and providing superior economic and environmental gains. Through this project, we aim to transform procurement practices within British industry so that products that require critical materials will be increasingly sourced, remanufactured and reused in the UK.**The issues:****Variable Quality of EOL products:** Each EOL product is different and requires different inputs to restore to a like new condition with some EOL products being beyond restoration. Bulk purchasing of EOL products is therefore fraught with risk for remanufacturers who have no way of assessing quality before purchase. This will be overcome by our EOL smart grading tool, streamlining, and improving the supply of EOL products for remanufactured.**Lack of awareness:** Currently EOL products from both public and private organisations tend to end up either being recycled or sold on to developing countries at no benefit to the previous owners and a loss to the UK supply chains. Many procurement teams are not currently aware that their EOL products can be returned to service as manufactured products either through the disposal to the remanufacturers or returned to them for extended use through Remanufacturing as a Service, RAAS. This will be addressed by targeted surveys of public and some private organisation procurement teams to assess their current procedures regarding EOL disposal and to explore mechanisms to facilitate the disposal of these EOL products to the remanufacturing supply chain. In summary, the aims of this project are to 1) Develop a smart grading tool to enhance and streamline the recovery of end-of-life materials for the remanufacturing industry, and 2) To assess the feasibility and scalability of the developed tool. This project will enhance the uptake of remanufacturing in the UK leading to environmental, economic and social gains.
