英文摘要
The JHU CFAR Biostatistics and Epidemiology Methodology (BEM) Core provides leadership to support collaborative, educational, and research initiatives for the Johns Hopkins HIV/AIDS community to promote and support innovative HIV-related research. The BEM Core blends the best aspects of existing resources at JHU and expertise in HIV/AIDS that is scattered across different Departments into a Core that has been serving to enhance and coordinate high quality HIV/AIDS research. Johns Hopkins has strong areas of methodological research expertise with individuals that have been highly productive and on the forefront of methodological research and application. Biostatistical and epidemiological methods are necessary tools that support and extend the full spectrum of research in HIV/AIDS here at Johns Hopkins: from basic biochemical, pharmacological and genetic research investigations to epidemiological studies and clinical trials to policy-level research initiatives; including both domestic and international experience as well as spanning HIV prevention and treatment. The BEM Core also seeks to support the CFAR-wide initiatives such as the Baltimore Collaboratory. Indeed, the BEM Core has been integral to help foster a stronger relationship with the Baltimore City Health Department. Therefore the overall goals of the BEM Core is threefold: 1) Service — to provide state-of-the-art bioinformatics, biostatistical, epidemiological, and dynamic modeling services in support of innovative HIV/AIDS research, 2) Education — to train and mentor staff, students, fellows, and junior investigators (with particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, Ending the HIV Epidemic, and dynamic modeling) in state-of-the-art population and quantitative methods used in HIV research, and 3) Collaboration — to collaborate in initiatives across the JHU CFAR as well as with other CFAR biostatistics cores. Together, the BEM Core provides value added to the HIV/AIDS research community as well as to our Baltimore community.
