This project proposes development of a compact atomic clock based on coherent population trapping (CPT) and thermal atoms. A modular, robust system will be developed that is designed for scalable manufacturing and establishes a sovereign supply chain for GNSS-denied navigation.The project unites established technology for compact form factor lasers, electronics and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) from three commercial partners and expertise from two research organisations in order to support realistic commercialisation.
