Less Grey Imaging is a prospective company that aims to commercialise advanced ultrasound imaging into a software product for disease diagnosis. The technology is called super-resolution ultrasound imaging (SRUI) and provides maps of entire organs in microscopic detail, which constitutes a leap in the visualisation of the structure and function of organs. While this technology can be used for the diagnosis of several diseases, we have identified that prostate cancer is a major disease that concerns a large part of the male population, and thus constitutes a large market for our technology. Our intention is to create a medical device/product in the form of software that will work as an adjunct to existing diagnostic examinations to provide accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer. This will help identify & localise significant cancers that are currently missed with spatial accuracy. In addition, it will help identify the large number of patients that undergo unnecessary biopsy or treatment, thus reducing healthcare costs, patient risk, and inconvenience.Our protected innovation does not require new hardware and ensures that the SRUI maps of the prostate are generated with current ultrasound equipment, and within feasible patient examination times (minutes). The Less Grey software can be used initially to identify correctly patient in need of biopsy and additionally provide patient surveillance and enable improved treatment planning. Further, we envision the application of our technology to a large number of other cancers and cardiovascular disease as well as other diseases.Following Less Grey's success during the ICURe programme with the recommendation to spin out at the Options Roundabout, the Innovate UK funded project is designed to make Less Grey investable within one year, by providing a clear business plan, finalising product design and clinical usage. Our plan is to enter the most lucrative USA market within four years. To mitigate the risk and reduce the costs associated with the lengthy regulatory procedures in the western countries, we will engage with an Asian market as a first choice. The adopted direction is highly favourable for ultrasound technologies and will provide company stability during the first years of Less Grey by generating cash flow.
