英文摘要
Around the world, farmers, vets, and industry stakeholders are working hard to ensure their animals are healthy and happy. However, checking animals visually takes time, is infrequent and can be subjective. This means there is a lack of good quality data which could be used to detect problems and make improvements on farm.Research at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at Nottingham University has developed algorithms that help measure cattle health and welfare without any need for manual input. Our solutions combine low-cost cameras, computer vision and veterinary know-how to automatically measure cattle behaviour, health, and welfare whilst requiring minimal infrastructure on farm. These will provide accurate data and novel insights into farm management and the cow's environment which are vital in making better decisions and management improvements that benefit animal health and welfare. Our products will also provide farmers with accurate data allowing them to prove their high standards and add value to what they produce.During this project, we will test and commercialise solutions for improving dairy cow health, welfare, and productivity. We will work with key partners to test our technology and will develop new innovations that we will subsequently deploy. This project will enable us to harness this exciting technology to create a positive impact on dairy cow health and welfare. Our aim is to help enable healthier, happier livestock which are more productive and produce less emissions - a win-win for farmers, vets, and consumers.
