POPCOT (POwerPlant COmpatibility Testing) project seeks to validate the novel UltraFan architecture through confirming the aeromechanics responses of a large diameter low speed composite fan system technology.Provision will be made to define and provide noise measurement capability for indoor testing. Modelling capability in noise and in bird projectile trajectory will be investigated. Analysis of the integration between airframe and powerplant will be investigatedNew tooling will be developed to allow assembly of the novel Carbon Titanium Fan system.Project cost is £5.1m over 57 month, starting April 2019 and concluding Dec 2024.
