Point-of-care blood cell count through micro-ELISA

Orphidia is developing the first ever point of care blood test device that offers measurement of up to 50 health indicators at laboratory accuracy, with results provided within 30 minutes. In this project we will extend our current technology from protein biomarker measurement to blood cell count, opening up the use of our device for new diagnostic purposes such as HIV/AIDS screening or differentiation between bacterial and viral infections. During the project we will show that our innovative measurement gives the right result, first from a laboratory analogue of a blood sample and then from a real blood sample (donated by the researchers themselves). The project will prove the Principle of our measurement and will identify the steps for further development needed to bring this technology to market (which we expect to happen approximately 2 years after completion of the current project). Successful delivery of this project will grow our R&D activities and accelerate commercial roll-out of our first product to the human or veterinary diagnostic market.
