Through the downstream processing of outputs from an integrated chitin extraction and grass sugar bio-refinery process, Pennotec (Pennog Ltd) seeks to manufacture and evaluate a bio-degradable natural flocculant product; chitosan, in water treatment applications.The highly innovative development envisaged in this study has the potential to significantly improve the economic performance of small scale bio-refinery processes designed to valorise bio-degradable manufacturing waste streams.
