Currently there is no solution available to holiday park owners which allows them tocommunicate with, monitor and control systems within their assets (i.e. caravan holidayhomes, residential park homes and park buildings such as bars, swimming pools etc.).Current systems (such as alarm units) are uni-directional, (i.e. they only send a signal out)with the issue being that the system cannot confirm that the signal it has sent has beenreceived, it therefore sends multiple radio messages to increase the probability that one will bereceived, without error or corruption, by a central unit located on the holiday park. Currentsystems are therefore ‘dumb’ in that they do not allow two way communications and hence donot allow monitoring and control of devices in park assets.This limitation does not allow the effective use of devices to monitor and control utilities,occupancy etc. For park owners this therefore results in excessive energy usage (appliancesleft on unnecessarily), poses a safety/security threat and requires excessive manualmaintenance intervention.The solution proposed will use a network of radio nodes to enable wireless bi-directionalcommunication between devices in caravans and homes and a central system located on thepark. This network will be utilised initially to control heating power usage and provide amonitored burglar alarm option and to provide a platform to enable future enhancedfunctional monitoring and control capability.The solution will be developed for the UK and Europe. In the UK alone there are over 2,000licensed holiday/touring parks, with 305,000 static caravan holiday homes and 111,000residential park homes. Ramtech currently operates alarm networks in all the major UK parksites. The target market in the UK alone equates to an estimated 10,200 units. There iscurrently no competition to the proposed solution. Future application is envisaged in socialhousing networks, university campuses, office buildings.
