The aim of the project is to develop a lightweight mobile hoist for the moving and handling ofdisabled, elderly and infirm people. The hoist is to be light weight and easily foldableallowing disabled people and their carers/parents greater freedom and ease when travellingwithin the UK and abroad.The hoist will be lighter than all the other mobile hoists on the market with particular attentionpaid to making it easy to assemble and disassemble. The lifting range of the hoist will beachieved by an innovative new mechanism which is not seen on any other mobile hoist. Therewill be a focus on improving the aesthetic qualities of the hoist to ensure that it does not looklike an ‘institutional’ piece of equipment. This will be achieved through tube profiles, designfeatures and material finishes.
