英文摘要
The scope of the ULTRA project is to develop the technologies associated with next generation EV vehicle manufacture within the UK. The ULTRA project is focused on energy storage, energy management, and transfer of energy into vehicle battery systems. Every consortium-partner of the ULTRA project is essential to ensure the successful deployment of UK-manufactured next-generation Li-ion cells, their raw materials, and downstream supply chain. Magtec are leading the ULTRA programme to apply the next generation EVE Prismatic Li-Ion cells into its core vehicle offering the, 119 and 123 battery format. This includes design and testing as well as the assessment of battery technologies under the stringent REG-100 standard. Magtec are to investigate innovative cell cooling methodologies, as well as new manufacturing processes critical to ensuring Magtec is ready to compete in the fast growing commercial EV driveline market sector. Testing will be conducted at battery pack level as well as vehicle level, with consortium partner Petalite being requested to conduct fast charge assessments. Avocet are to utilise the programme to facilitate progression from a distributor of precision metals to a UK based manufacturer. Avocet shares the concerns of their customers about the danger of interruption/breakdown in long-distance supply chains, particularly to smaller volume cell manufacturers. Their solution is to progress towards manufacturing Electrodeposited (ED) Copper (Cu) foils in the UK following an onshoring study and create a UK centre of excellence for tab cell development. Following the departure of AMTE, Avocet see the project as a critical for allowing the company to compete to offer the technologies for other cell partners. Petalite's patented Ultra SDC charger for BEVs has the potential to address market trends and needs for shorter charge time (higher power charge), improved modularity and lower lifetime cost, and will allow for the fast charging of the vehicles considered by Magtec.
