The recent highest and fastest skydive from 39km high by Felix Baumgartner has shown the upward direction of interest into the stratosphere of the planet. During the same period California's JP Aerospace broke the record for the world's highest airship flight. Remotely controlled from the ground, the all-volunteer group's Tandem twin-balloon airship reportedly ascended to an altitude of 95,085 feet (28,982 meters). This region of the earth has tremendous opportunities for communications and research and reaches the limits of upward acceleration by balloons which meet the problem of greater internal pressure than the ambient atmosphere both expanding the balloon and reducing its buoyancy. By utilising new materials and sustainable power sources it is now possible to build a large platform vehicle which can maintain height and position for long periods of time supporting its payload.
