Efficient and effective location-aware search on social networks

This project aims to develop, analyse, implement, and evaluate novel indexing techniques and algorithms to support effective and efficient search on large scale social networks with location awareness. Most existing techniques for social network searches do not support or have very limited support for location-aware searches. The project expects to utilise the geographical information of both users and locations to advance the existing social network search mechanisms by providing users more relevant results. This will significantly contribute to Australia’s society, economy, and national security and enhance a wide range of applications that involve using social networks data, such as marketing and advertising, public health, tourism and transport management.
