The project will run from 1 March 2024 until 31 August 2024. During these 6 months, the activities will include:(a) Kick off workshop with all the project partners. This workshop will introduce the argument for using market data and ethnographic approaches for developing a diagnostic tool that will support building a personalised pathways to wellbeing. We will explore the patterns of consumption found across the $7trillion global wellness industry and examine the distinct areas that wellness activities cluster within, these include:(a1) Relationship with the Natural World. Lifestyles here include gardening, cycling as a mode of transport, outdoor pursuits, eating seasonally, plant medicine, recycling and upcycling, consumption and use of environmentally friendly products that range from household products to electric vehicles.(a2) Relationship with the Body. Lifestyles here include sports and training, fitness clothing and accessories, smart technology, fitness trackers, and wearables, food supplements, and nutritional supplements.(a3) Relationship with the Mind. Lifestyles here include mindfulness, meditation, spiritual retreats, therapy, nootropics, bio-hacking, plant medicine, supplement stacking, and guidance and literature.(a4) Relationship with the Social. Lifestyles here include singing in choirs, social fitness and wellbeing, community activities, volunteering, and acts of service. (a5) Relationship with the Esoteric. Lifestyles here include spiritual practices, lifestyle choices that support spiritual training such as vegetarianism, prayer, reading, guidance, or teaching of matters related to spirit and/or religion. We will also begin to deploy the PPA approach and use the tools to diagnose ourselves, in effect becoming familiar with the functionality and exploring the opportunity that the tool offers for eliciting personal projects that support wellbeing. We will:(b) Begin to map the functionality of the Personality Project Analysis (PPA) methodology.(b1) Using a service design approach, we will work together with Chantal Gagnon and Socolo to breakdown the ranking exercises in the methodology and design new ways of describing everyday wellbeing projects. Our aim here is to ensure inclusion and accessibility for all users. We will then more into the iterative design phase, coupled with user testing. We will start this phase with CrossFit Islington and evolve towards the client base of The WellHq.(c) Develop and test a paper based protype.(d) Using the insights from the first round of usability testing, develop and test a second paper-based prototype.(e) Run a development sprint with Outlandish. Throughout the 6 months I will also focus expanding my network. These details can be found in the Objectives section. Some of these activities may temporally shift. Should other opportunities for funding, investment, or support arise, the project may shift slightly to allow for this but will stay committed to delivering as robust a diagnostic as possible. I will also ensure the project funds are spent on time and responsibly. As the project will be supported by CRASSH, Cambridge Enterprise, Cambridge Research Office, and the University of Cambridge more broadly, I intend to make full use of all resources and opportunities available to the research community in the exploitation space.
