"Supplementary funding to support the extension of the EDCTP-funded “Multi-Stage Malaria Vaccine Consortium: field efficacy testing of a malaria vaccine targeting all four stages of the parasite’s life-cycle (MMVC)” held by Professor Adrian Hill (University of Oxford). Study delayed due to the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this project will develop the first multi-stage vaccine designed to target multiple stages of the P. falciparum malaria parasite’s life-cycle, including the sporozoite, liver, blood and mosquito stages. Each component of the multi-stage malaria vaccine will be tested in clinical trials in Africa to ensure the vaccines are safe, stimulate an immune response, and in some of our studies, are effective in preventing malaria.
