英文摘要
The overarching rationale for my research programme is that the integration of human and mouse approaches will lead to a more profound understanding of the genetics underlying hearing loss, which for age-related hearing loss (ARHL) in particular is currently very limited. Moreover, the study and comparison of mouse models will provide essential information regarding the progressive molecular and cellular processes occurring in the mammalian cochlea, something that cannot be determined in humans. Ultimately, this increased understanding will lay the foundation necessary for developing therapeutic interventions, such as gene, regeneration or small molecule therapies.
