This research aims to highlight and tackle the extensive issues that transgender victims and witnesses face within Scotland's criminal justice system. It aims to increase awareness of, and available data and literature on, the transgender community and their experiences of hate crime. This research will use co-production methodology which will offer learning opportunities for the community and gives them a greater opportunity for input into the process (Durose et al. n.d). The use of co-produced methodology will result in the production of more ethically sound research (Zuber-Skerritt, 1996) and will also keep the research in line with the feminist standpoint theory (Clough, 1994) that will run throughout it. This will produce outcomes which reflect the issues identified by this highly vulnerable community and which act on their own recommendations for change.
