In this project the student will work on the Fermilab muon g-2 experiment. The student will be responsible for the commissioning of the straw tracker readout and DAQ system with first data in 2017 and the analysis of the data to reduce the systematics in the determination of a_mu and the muon EDM (limit). He will establish alignment algorithms for the straw tracker and determine the alignment systematic which is critical to accurately measuring the beam profile and the up-down asymmetry for the EDM. The thesis will update the limit on the muon EDM (or measure it) with a sensitivity that is expected to surpass than from BNL by at least a factor of 10 and likely a factor of 100.
