A case study of women from the UK and how they use online forums to negotiate the decision to not have sex.What can a consideration of 'not having sex' tell us about the choice to have sex? The last decade has seen an increased academic interest in asexuality within the new discipline of 'Asexuality Studies' - what emerges in this literature is a multiplicity of definitions, a myriad of different behaviours, and a call for further work into the complicated intersections between desire, behaviour and identity. Initial studies into asexuality have shown that the internet is a key resource used by asexuals to discuss 'not having sex'. This project asks how do adult women use internet forums to explore the 'choice' to not have sex, and how does women's online participation influence their decision to not have sex?
