The project will develop signal processing techniques to enhace long range sensing from aircraft. The applicability of the developed techniques to a range of application areas will be assessed.The objectives are to:1. Review the fundamentals of RF and EO sensing technologies and the implications of long range air borne systems.2. Down select a specific system where signal processing has the potential to significantly enhance the detection system.3. Identify relevant performance metrics for the sensing system4. Explore signal processing techniques to be applied to the specific system and assess against the chosen metrics5. The work will focus on improving the signal to noise ratio and investigate tecniques from Compressive Sensing to improve capture and data communiction efficiency.
