A Resource-Aware Trust-Based Security Framework for Heterogeneous Opportunistic Networks

Opportunistic networks are large-scale, multi-natured, disconnection-prone, distributed and decentralised networks comprising heterogeneous nodes (e.g. autonomous vehicles, home appliances, smartphones). These environments present manifold challenges which must be met in order to meet service requirements across the diverse areas of their deployments, which include manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation. Opportunistic mobile social networks exhibit emergent properties which can be utilised to help address the demands. In our research we are exploring a novel collaborative, predictive, cross-layer approach for real-time, localised, predictive decision making so as to adaptively balance the multiple complex dynamic trade-offs, such as in resources, security, and privacy whilst meeting multi-service requirements.
