In this project, we investigate quantum transport phenomena in mesoscopic structures that can be realised at the interface of LAO/STO Oxide Heterostructures. The goal will be to further develop and utilise theoretical techniques to explore the physics that might be observable in these structures. This will range from engineering single-electron phenomena in waveguides, to strongly correlated phenomena for electrons propaging through arrays of quantum dots. Our primary goal will be to set a roadmap for experiments in this area, especially those in LAO/STO experiments at the University of Pittsburgh, and we will also explore connections to new realisations of quantum transport phenomena in ultracold atoms. The methods used will be theoretical techniques for strongly interacting systems, and new quantum optics-inspired formalisms that have been developed at the University of Strathclyde. These techniques, which will be further developed here, provide new means to calculate transport in such many-body quantum systems.
