英文摘要
How will plasmonic transducers in HAMR (heat assisted magnetic recording) applications operate under high temperatures? Will aspects of elemental diffusion, plastic deformation, melting and recrystallisation compromise their long-term functionality? Which materials offer the best chemical and functional performance? This project will investigate the effect high temperatures have on plasmonic functionality, with respect to HAMR performance. A variety of cutting-edge electron microscopy techniques will be used to analyse samples at the Kelvin Nanocharacterisation Centre at Glasgow University.
