This project will be done with Siemens Gamesa RE. The aim is to look at how a gridforming controlled power converter will or could respond to power system transients caused by gridfaults, overvoltage's, phase jump and/or changes in system fault level. It is expected that this projectwould involve both time and frequency domain studies into control algorithms and the resultingresponse to such transient events, and real-time fast event detection algorithms that would allow thefirst industrialised versions of Grid Forming control interfaced renewable generation to provide theexpected contribution to system stability during these highly dynamic events.SGRE will support this project with background descriptions and examples of power system events,controllers, technical engineering support, experience to date and look forward to working in partnershipwith the successful applicant.
