Direct dark matter searches

This project will exploit the science data from the LZ dark matter search experiment following commissioning at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in 2020. The student will perform key data analyses contributing to the primary search for WIMPs as well as other potential signatures arising from alternative thermal relic dark matter candidates accessible to LZ. The project will also investigate the adoption of novel quantum technologies as probes for ultra light dark matter candidates presently out of reach of underground rare event scattering experiments.
