DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): The Core (Core C) includes the Real-Time PCR instrument (Model Mx4000, Strategene) that permits Multiplex Quantitative analyses. It has the capability of a total of seven fluorescent primers in the multiplex mode so that seven DNA samples and primer pairs can be analyzed at one time. The facility will be directed by Dr. Yufang Shi. All members of the Program Project will use the instrument without charge for facility use. Other investigators pay an annual user fee of $400 to help cover the cost of the Service Contract. The director will train members of the Program Project and any of their staff at periodic training sessions. The facility will cover 25 % of the cost of Dr. Jian-Nian Zhou who will care for the facility and provide the data (graphs, data) to the investigators.
